Communicating to change the world

I have worked for social change since I was 16 years old, starting with an anti-nuclear campaigning group and encompassing many feminist, green, peace and social justice organisations.  Since I have been involved with NVC I have become much more aware of two major barriers that prevent this work being more effective.

The first is the internal conflicts that many groups are beset with, some of which become so entrenched that the group falls apart. The second is the understandable tendency for our anger at the injustice in the world to translate into seeing the 'other side' or those who don't agree with us as the enemy - and treating them that way.

I believe that Nonviolent Communication can make a major contribution in both these areas. Because of my background in the voluntary and campaigns sector I have an in-depth understanding of the issues involved. I believe I can help you transform your communications - both internally and with the outside world - so that your social change work is much more powerful.

So far I have brought the insights and skills of Nonviolent Communication to the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, a spiritual community in Dorset, a group of Quakers, branches of the Green Party and activists at the Peace News Camp in 2013 and 2014. Contact me to find out more about how we could work together.
